Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG) has denied the speculation about Tottenham purchase. Although still will maintain good relations with Tottenham, AEG denies the claim from the U.S. investment group will take over ownership of the north London club.
The group owner of the Los Angeles Galaxy, Los Angeles Lakers NBA team, and hockey teams NHL Los Angeles Kings were rumored to be buying Tottenham after the two sides work together to apply for a move to the Olympic stadium after the 2012 London Olympics. After the effort failed, Tottenham seek new funding sources to build a stadium near White Hart Lane and out of the sale of the stock exchange.
"News of interest AEG or the negotiations to purchase Tottenham is not true. We are now enjoying very good business relationship with Tottenham and has been involved in a number of transactions in recent years. But we never wanted to buy the club," said AEG President Tim Leiweke. Leiweke added, "We will continue to maintain good relations with the (president Tottenham) Daniel Levy and Tottenham."
